ABOUT VSC
Vemury Structural Consultancy Ltd (VSC) is a design consultancy that provides civil and structural engineering services, primarily in the United Kingdom. Over the past few years, our firm has taken a lead role in designing substructures and superstructures for building construction projects. Structural design has been carried out in accordance with Eurocodes (viz. BS EN 1991, BS EN 1992, BS EN 1993) and British Standards (BS 5268 and BS 5628) as appropriate. The buildings designed are low – rise and include commercial, industrial and residential structures.
As part of the services offered, we undertake structural surveys and inspections. The properties surveyed or inspected till date include Grade II/Category B Listed buildings, traditional detached/semi-detached/terraced houses, and non-traditional building systems such as BISF, Cussins, Dennis – Wild, and Hawthorn – Leslie. A wide range of industrial structures built from reinforced concrete, structural steel – and portal – frame construction, located in various parts of the North East of England and Scotland, has also been inspected. Our Structural Assessment Reports provide commentary on the nature and potential impacts of any existing local or global structural defects and make design recommendations for suitable remedial works.
The firm’s approach to design is an endeavour of realising safe and durable structures that are functional, adaptable and in keeping with the history of their sites and environments. We work very closely with clients and other professionals to ensure the successful completion of the schemes.
We have been working collaboratively with engineering academics and researchers on research projects involving innovative engineering materials and sustainable design methods. We offer supervision on engineering student research projects and collaborate with academic/research teams on research funding bids and journal publication.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Mr Chandra Mouli Vemury CEng C Build. E MCABE M.ASCE founded VSC in September 2017. Chandra is a chartered engineer with extensive experience in the design and assessment of building structures. He read Masters in Structural Engineering at the University of Dundee, UK having previously earned a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering at Vasavi College of Engineering, Osmania University, India. He is a past - Chair of Construction Industry Council (CIC) North East of England. From September 2009 until June 2023 he served on the Northern Counties Committee of the Institution of Structural Engineers. Over the years, Chandra assisted engineering professional bodies such as CIHT and CABE as a Reviewer for CEng/IEng Professional Reviews. He had also served as a Liaison Officer for the Engineering Council, UK. In October 2024, he became a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Chandra is an engineer with a strong sense of socio-environmental consciousness. He served on the boards of various third - sector organisations including Journey to Justice, Share UK, Transition Network, Community Transport Association and Newcastle Philosophy Society. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and, since 2005, Chandra taught various Civil and Structural Engineering and Project Management related modules/units to learners on academic programmes at NQF Levels 3 to 7. Working closely with researchers and experts based in the UK, he had been conducting independent research.
